Why wear a no-makeup look when you can make yourself look like a spring fairy? In my quest to look like a spritely meadow nymph for spring, I found two things in my collection that when paired together look absolutely divine.
Meet the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in #8 Blueberry Pie. It was $8.48 on amazon.com, though I've seen other shades sell for as low as $1 and some change. If you find it for less, please let me know as this is definitely something I will be repurchasing in the future. It's pretty and its name is the type of Engrish that makes me giggle, what's not to love!
She's become a bit of a workhorse in my collection since the temps have cleared 50 degrees (Fahrenheit, in case you're wondering why I'd slather anything on my face other than sunscreen in such conditions). It's a lovely lavender pink color that I've found pops on my warm-neutral skin tone. Because of its coolness, I find that it also accentuates my cheekbones adequately, and I skip bronzer and contour on the days I elect to use it. It applies sheerly and is easy to build up. (I prefer this as it makes it hard to overdo.) I will note that the lasting power is not the best though so if you're needing your makeup to last from day to night, you'll definitely want to throw it in your bag for touchups. Since the blush is pretty teensy, it's not that big of a deal. Swatchified below, applied with a finger.
Friends, this lovely blusher certainly deserves its own friend, and I've found the perfect companion in the Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm in Peach Kiss. $3.49 at amazon. Available at most drugstores for various prices.
Peach Kiss is a sheer lip balm that imparts just a hint of peach tint to the lips along with some shimmer. The shimmer is noticeable though not gaudy nor frosty. It does, however, feel just a touch grainy on the lips. Peach Kiss also smells as one would expect a peach to smell, without making you think of chemicals and additives and preservatives and all of those scary things. I bought it for the color, and not its moisturizing properties. I once tried each Baby Lips in my collection overnight to see if it would moisturize my lips, and wop, wop... they didn't. They were a huge flop for moisture retention. Pick them up if you like the shades though! Oh, and one added bonus is they have SPF 15 for during the day. Swatched next to the blush.

So how do they look on? Take a look!
Voila, fairy look achieved. |
RUH-ROH! I was just notified that Etude House no longer sells this shade! That's a damn shame. I will propose 3 other blushes that are similar in tone. These were the other contenders when I was on the hunt for my perfect lavender.... (some affiliate links)

MAC Well Dressed, $22.00 Swatches @Temptalia. Link

Looks great on you. I'm into light purple blushes for the fairy look, too. I have ones from 3CE and The Face Shop that I use often. --Angela
Thanks! I think it would flatter you a lot as well :)
Thanks! I find they're really flattering on East Asian skin tones. Do either of the 3CE/FaceShop ones perform especially well? I've also considered Makeup Geek Smitten and MAC Well Dressed before.
Oops Makeup Geek Secret Admirer not Smitten*
