Checking in with Uslu Airlines Lipstick in HOH

The beauty world has become incredibly fragmented with new brands popping up everywhere to cater to niche tastes. While drugstore and the Sephora-stocked brands may exert the most influence on our wallets, there's now even more ways to be rid of your cash. There's literally a scene for everyone, the indieheads, the Korean beauties, Youtube-launched brand devotees, high-streeters, the list goes on. There are so many lesser known brands out there, and I personally love it. It's like a little treasure hunt!

Today I wanted to talk about uslu airlines, a Berlin-based brand that boast Net-a-Porter and Urban Outfitters as their stockists in the U.S. They have a large, quirky range of lipstick and nail polish colors. What I really love about it though is that all of their products are named after airport codes. It may be a bit gimmicky, but I'm into it nonetheless. I picked up one of their lipsticks in the shade HOH. If you're curious which airport that is, it's the Hohenems/Dornbirn airport in Austria. *shrug* I picked it up because it's this glass coral color that looks a bit retro comic book-like. It reminded me of Archie specifically if anyone remembers that one.

The lipstick was pigmented and opaque and swiped true to bullet which was impressive. The formula was pretty creamy and wore for 5-6 hours. It's also very lightly fragranced, so light that I couldn't really define what I was smelling, just that it wasn't unpleasant. I did notice that come evening, my lips were starting to flake but I think that I can chalk it up to the fact that I forgot to moisturize my lips the night before.

Note the packaging below. It's a see-through rubberized container with a silver bullet. The container is smaller than other lipsticks, but you get the same amount of product.

This was one of the more subdued colors if you could believe it. These lipsticks come in many fierce colors, all of which look bright and vivid. Case in point, this daring aquamarine blue, and I know there's a bright yellow in there somewhere. o_O I'm happy with the shade I chose, and am pretty confident that the more conventional shades that aren't too light or too dark would perform equally well. I don't know that I will pick up any more from the brand in the future, maybe when there are more swatches floating around the web, I'll feel more inclined.

I'm not that into nail polish so I skipped those, but the colors looked really fun and they boast a non-toxic formula. So will you be checking in with uslu airlines? Let me know in the comments below!
