Shiseido Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Edge Meister Mascara Review

Currently feeling very excited to share my thoughts on the first Asian mascara I've ever tried - the Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Edge Meister! It seems that my makeup stash has slowly been going Asian, with my last couple of purchases hailing from Japan and Korea.

I chose to try an Asian mascara because they boast lightweight formulas that are supposed to hold a curl like no other. This is very important because a mascara may lengthen and volumize like crazy, but if it doesn't hold a curl, it makes no difference whatsoever to your overall eye look. Without the curl, your lashes are not going to be visible as they will blend into your eyeliner.

Which brings me to why I chose the MM Lash Expander Edge Meister. It gets a lot of love for refusing to drop that curl. I also considered the Heroine Make Long & Curl, Heroine Make Volume & Curl, Majolica Majorca Lash King, and the Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascaras, in case you're wondering what else is out there.

Packaging A+ - looks like a beautiful black vial of magic lash potion

Tarte Best in Faux, you should be taking notes. This is how a fiber mascara is done.

The Wand
This is a dual-sided plastic wand with a half-moon shape. Each side has a comb for a separating effect on the lashes. Using the convex side of the wand will deliver more volume to the lashes, while the concave side will help reinforce the curl.

The Formula
Black, lightweight fibers that adhere to the lashes like superglue, until makeup remover or oil is used to remove the mascara. The formula is also infused with macademia oil to pamper your lashes. Not sure if anyone cares about mascara ingredients, but this is nice to know.

The Results
With 1 coat: very natural, separated, and CURLED lashes to lift your eye look. Gives average length and volume.
With 2 coats: less-separated, curled lashes similar to a Miss Manga Eyes-type, intentionally clumpy lash look. Gives average length, and good volume.

Performance
I don't know if I've ever mentioned my product testing policy (for lack of a better word), but I test all makeup for at least 2 weeks. This mascara was tested in roughly 80 degree Fahrenheit weather, with high humidity. I also worked out with it on because it was for science.

In these conditions...
  • It lasted upwards of 10-12 hours.
  • MM DID NOT DROP THE CURL AT ALL. This thing could never be a marine because it refuses to drop and give you 50.
  • Did not degrade when it came into contact with tears or sweat.
  • It can smudge a little bit over your concealer, but judging by how it performed on me, I'd say that it's virtually impossible to get full on panda eyes. Also, applying a bit of powder beneath your eyes will help to minimize any smudging.
  • Some people have mentioned that there is light flaking with this mascara, but I did not experience any.

FOTD
I kind of wanted to leave you with a FOTD to redeem my last one because vanity.

Blue-gray on the lid with silver "halo" in center, orange in the crease. I think I'll call it Rusted Blue Steel.

I give this an A on my scale - approved items I would repurchase if I weren't a makeup hypebeast and loved shopping around.
