Samesie's with this review. I'm trying to make my reviews shorter and snappier. Here's another try at a shorter and snappier review.
CosRX Silk Fingerballs (12 pieces)
These are gentle exfoliating thumbnails made of 100% natural silk. CosRX have to my delight decided to call them FINGERBALLS.
When Korean network TV show Get It Beauty polled Kbeauty fans from Japan, they found that these silk cocoon exfoliators were the most popular Korean beauty items among the women surveyed.
How to Use: I use these 2-3 times a week, whenever my pores are looking a bit peppered with sebaceous filaments (look like blackheads, but are not blackheads). I feel comfortable using these more often than other physical exfoliators in my stash because they're so gentle.
The directions indicate to (1) soak the fingerball in warm water for 2-3 minutes (2) wear the finger ball on your finger (I use my index finger) and intensively massage areas that suffer from blackheads. They then indicate that you should cleanse the area and pat it dry. I actually use these after cleansing, and follow it up with my CosRX Snail 96 to 'seal' the pores after getting rid of the sebaceous filaments / blackheads. This is to protect and seal them off from dirt / debris.
At first they're hard little nuggets made of a texturized silk cardboard-like material. There's a little fuzz.
When I soak them for the 2-3 minutes...
I know they're 'done' when the fingerballs get all mushy and easy to squeeze.
The texture of the wet fingerball is like a soft, texturized cardboard material with no jagged edges.
I slip the fingerball on my index finger and use it all over my face, concentrating my efforts on my nose and cheeks, my biggest problem areas in terms of pores and sebaceous filaments. I use light, circular motions.
TRIGGER WARNING: the next pic ain't pretty
The aftermath... The fingerball is discolored from the dead skin cells and residue from my vitamin C serum.
the pores on my nose are unplugged, the dark spots in the pores are shadows not SF's. HD is NOT forgiving. will update with a more accurate pic next time I use them! |
The results... I LOVE how gentle this is. It removes the SF's without turning me into a lobster. There's no redness, and the pores look clear. If you prefer gentle exfoliators, I think you'd be into these. If you're more about the St. Ive's Apricot Scrub life... aka you like abrasive exfoliators, the fingerballs probably aren't for you.
I'm going to miss saying fingerballs after I write up this post.
Also, apparently, if you rinse the fingerballs and store them in a safe, dry place, you can reuse them once or twice. I haven't done this myself, but read about it somewhere else.
Try it For Yourself
These used to be sold in packs of 12 at Memebox, but the listing has vanished. You can still get them through the CosRX box which contains 5 full size products. $46 for the box. I've reviewed the box in full here.
Edit: Cupidrop.com carries these for $4.00 per 12 pack!
What do you think about these?
