ACWell Mask Packs: Clear Heated Massage Pack, Soft Soothing Mask Pack, Small Pore and Face Pack

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

Memebox sent me these ACWell Monday through Sunday mask packs. They range from sleeping packs to heat-up packs to wash-off packs. There are 7 packs available on Memebox.com* (sold out at the moment). I'm happy to be able to review 3 of the 7 packs. These are from the Memebox Brand Ambassador program that I used to be a part of, FYI.

ACWell is the brand famous for having a bubble-free gel cleanser and that licorice pH 5.5 toner... Let's see if the rest of the line measures up.

The ACWell (pronounced AHK-Well) brand calls itself "Nature's prescription for sensitive and stressed skincare line"

Product Description A heated wash-off pack to massage into sensitive skin. It contains 7 all-natural ingredients, including Porio Cocos, Lycium Chinense Fruit Extract and Angelica Gigas Root Extract. The other 4 ingredients, beats me, the Hwahae app and Google translate had some really interesting alternate translations for them.

Packaging - It's a foil pouch with a white, plastic twist-off cap. The twist-off cap is re-attachable. It's stated on the packaging that each pouch contains enough product for 2-3 uses. You can definitely squeeze an extra use out of the pack.

Ingredients Butylene Glycol, Zeolite, Butylene Glycol, Phytosqualane, Kaolin, Ceteareth-20, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Polgonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Cuscuta Japonica Seed Extract, Psoralea Corylifolia Fruit Extract [Ingredients Analysis @ CosDNA]

Ingredients Analysis
The ingredients list is short and sweet so I went ahead and listed them out for y'all.
The Zeolite is an absorbent mineral that has anti-cancer properties. Due to the butylene glycol and the phytosqualane in the product, the massage pack is a viscous, white liquid that is thicker than your average sheet mask essence. The phytosqualane, which is an olive-derived and extracted oil moisturizes the skin; squalane also has skin-identical properties. Kaolin is a type of clay that is great for oily skin types. Ceteareth-20 is just a viscosity thickening agent. Angelica gigas root extract is a Korean traditional herbal medicinal ingredient with skin-conditioning properties as well. Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract is a Chinese medicinal botanical extract that has antioxidant and anti-inflamatory properties. Cuscuta Japonica and Psoralea Corylifolia Fruit are also botanicals that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties for the skin.

Best For ... Anyone who likes a wash-off pack...
This one was quite unremarkable for dry skin and seemed a bit heavy for those with oily skin so no real reco for it...

To Use (The directions are listed in Korean on the pack) After cleansing the skin, massage the face pack for 3 minutes until the pack heats up (this doesn't actually happen), then wash off. Good for 2-5 uses.

Performance This mask pack is actually pretty ironic since it's not such a great idea to use heated skincare products on sensitive skin... however, the mask doesn't even heat up an iota, so it ends up being suitable for those with sensitive skin. Oy vey.

My experience with this mask is that it didn't provide any remarkable results other than probably a bit of light exfoliation. The mask didn't heat up, and it didn't leave my skin looking or feeling better. I would not repurchase this mask pouch despite its stellar ingredients list. I would perhaps be interested in getting a larger quantity of this mask to monitor its results over time but ACWell doesn't actually make full-size CHMP (Clear Heated Massage Packs)'s.

Scent: bubblegum (for Kelley).

Repurchase? Nope!

ACWell Soft Soothing Sleeping Pack

Product Description A thin cream consistency sleeping pack that's light enough for oily skin and has a minty scent.

Packaging Same as before... It's a foil pouch with a white, plastic twist-off cap. The twist-off cap is re-attachable. It's stated on the packaging that each pouch contains enough product for 2-3 uses. You can definitely squeeze an extra use out of the pack.

Ingredients Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Oleth-15, Cetearyl Alcohol, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Cuscuta Japonica Seed Extract, Psoralea Corythifolia Fruit Extract, Lycium Chinense Fruit Extract, Achyranthes Japonica Extract [Ingredients Analysis @ CosDNA]

Ingredients Analysis The cream contains a lot of silicones and fatty alcohol, so those with acne-prone skin may want to avoid this one. In addition, there are some Asian traditional botanical ingredients that nourish and soothe the skin.

Best For Those with oily to normal to dry skin, non-acneic skin types. Those with sensitive skin.

To Use Use in nighttime skincare routine as the last step, post-cleansing, toners, prescription actives, any other moisturizers. Use as needed.

Performance This pack is for those who enjoy an invigorating mint scent and like their sleeping packs on the thinner side. To be honest, this pack was sent to me so long ago that I actually misplaced my notes. In terms of results I remember that they were alright enough for me to place the pouch in my "mediocre" pile of used masks.

Repurchase? No, but I would consider it if they had a full-size.

ACWell Small Pore and Face Pack

Product Description An amber, thick gel wash-off pack with a sticky consistency

Packaging A blue foil pouch with a white plastic cap that twists off and is re-attachable. The package contains at least 2-3 uses.

Ingredients Water, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Alcohol, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Cuscuta Japonica Seed Extract, Psoralea Corylifolia Fruit Extract, Lycium Chinense Fruit Extract, Achyranthes Japonica Extract [Ingredients Analysis @ CosDNA]

Ingredients Analysis The Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate is a thickening agent. There are many other Asian botanical extracts that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties as well. While there is alcohol in this wash-off pack, it's merely a thinning agent to counterbalance the Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate.

To Use Use after cleansing. Apply and leave on for 2-3 minutes. Wash off with water.

Performance N/A. I lost my notes for this pack so sorry ladies and gents.

Repurchase? Nope, I had left this pack in the "mediocre" pile before I took my break from blogging in February and March.

Have any of you tried this mask and what did you think?
