CNP Laboratory Propolis Energy Ampule Review

Sunday, August 14, 2016

I wanted to give an update on my lazy three-step skincare routine I've been adhering to lately. It's been cleanse, the CNP Laboratory Propolis Energy Ampule, and a sheet mask (which I often find crumpled up and dry at the foot of my bed in the mornings). I've been finding that although my routine has been quite abbreviated, my skin's been holding up well due to a combination between these products, and the fact that there's still a lot of heat and humidity around these parts.

So what is the CNP Laboratory Propolis Energy Ampule? And how's it singlehandedly standing up my routine right now? We'll get into that.

This product made its way into my hands during a Gmarket order. I hadn't had a propolis product since my experience with the Scinic Propolis Ampoule 95 and I've been wanting to try out either the CNP Laboratory or the LeeJiHam versions of a propolis product for quite awhile.

CNP Cosmetics

CNP Laboratory is a dermatologist led brand that was launched with the participation of 50 dermatologists and 10 years of R&D. Their products do not contain mineral oil, dyes, alcohol, fragrance, nor parabens, and they tend to invest more in the quality of the products themselves rather than in packaging.

Product
15ml.
Ingredients: Water, Propolis Extract, Beta-Glucan, Glycerin, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Madecassoside, Polysorbate 20, Carbomer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Arginine, Honey Extract, Allantoin, PEG-8, Sigesbeckia Orientalis Extract, Rabdosia Rubescens Extract, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Disodium EDTA, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract [CosDNA Analysis]
This product is among their top three bestsellers and is a tiny ampoule containing 10% propolis extract, various anti-irritants, and humectants. I would say the purpose of this ampoule is to calm and hydrate skin. However, if you are allergic to bee byproducts you will definitely want to patch test this one or sit this one out. Also, I would say that the lack of synthetic preservatives might bother me some, but because the product is so easy to use up within a few weeks timeframe, I overlook it.
In terms of how it looks and feels, it's a honey-colored viscous liquid of which you only need about 2 drops to properly douse the face in its nourishment. It's rather scentless to the average nose but those with sensitive noses might detect a scent.

Packaging
Many ampoules come in a dropper bottle and this one is no different. It's a heavy glass bottle, and the dropper reaches almost all the way to the bottom, perhaps stops about half a centimeter short. I've finished the bottle and didn't have any issues with the dropper sticking, or not being able to use up the last bit - important since it only comes with 15ml of product. I'd be rather annoyed if there was any that had to be left in the bottle.

Results
Although it doesn't contain as much propolis as many of the other ampoules out there, I did still feel as though it did a great job in nourishing the skin and it had a really enjoyable finish. Every night I used it (about 2.5 weeks) it left my skin really glowing and dewy for a few minutes before getting fully absorbed into the skin and leaving it soft. There is a very light film if you use too much but it wasn't that bothersome to me. I reserved this for nighttime use as the initial glow is really strong and it does take a few minutes to absorb into the skin. I also didn't want to oversaturate my skin with moisture before getting it to take my sunscreen and makeup.
All in all I really enjoyed this product, probably even more than the 95% propolis Scinic Propolis Ampoule 95, which was surprising to me. I probably won't repurchase right away, as I still have the LeeJiHam to try, but am more likely to repurchase this than the Scinic. It's a great ampoule that really holds the skin over even in times of shortened routines.
