Ye Olde Faithful: YSL Rouge Volupte Shine #12 Corail Incandescent

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

So my YSL Rouge Volupte Shines have made little cameos here and there on this blog. Orange Incandescent was featured in Three Ways to Wear an Orange Lip, while Pourpre Intouchable was one of my staples in Wintry Lips, and lastly Pink in Devotion was the lippie of choice in How to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger.

Then there's the one that started it all. Corail Incandescent aka YSL RVS #12, but always numero uno in my book.

An Easy Way to Control Your Beauty Spending

Thursday, March 19, 2015

This post inspired by reddit, a community of beauty lovers who like all of us, can sometimes get carried away.

Speaking of being Carried away, Carrie Bradshaw once stated that she likes to keep her money where she can see it, hanging in her closet. I know plenty of people (myself included) who feel the same way about their money, only they prefer to see it neatly organized on a well-lit vanity! But let's be honest, life is not a TV show and we all have other priorities to deal with. You know, things like bills, food, etc. So this blog post is dedicated to introducing a fresh, new way to manage your beauty spending, before you end up joining a real rehab group like Appearance Accentuaters Anonymous. (Boo that was a bit try hard. Also, accentuater, not a word. We'll deal.) So what is this new method I'm proposing?

Lavender & Peach Fairy Dust For Spring

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

Why wear a no-makeup look when you can make yourself look like a spring fairy? In my quest to look like a spritely meadow nymph for spring, I found two things in my collection that when paired together look absolutely divine.

Meet the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in #8 Blueberry Pie. It was $8.48 on amazon.com, though I've seen other shades sell for as low as $1 and some change. If you find it for less, please let me know as this is definitely something I will be repurchasing in the future. It's pretty and its name is the type of Engrish that makes me giggle, what's not to love!

Stylenanda Fashion Haul: More Satisfying than ASOS/Topshop But More Hassle

Friday, March 13, 2015

3 posts in a month about Stylenanda, you'd think I was sponsored! But that is not the case, I'm just a wee bit obsessed with this brand at the moment. l promise I'll shut up about this site for a while right after this post.

I hauled some clothes and a couple pairs of shoes from them in addition to the lipsticks and the eyeshadows I reviewed earlier and wanted to share some thoughts about the overall experience of shopping from their site.

How To Make Your Eyes Look Bigger Without Double Eyelid Tape

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Have you guys ever watched this viral video of a Taiwanese game show where girls completely transform their faces with makeup? It's gotten over 1 million views on Youtube and it is pretty shocking to see what they can do with just a few tools that are readily available to everyone.

I usually never stray far from a natural look because I don't want to look unrecognizable to people who know me, but I had some time on my hands and so I decided to attempt a more drastic transformation. The ultimate goal I had in mind was to make my eyes look bigger without the use of eyelid tape. Why without eyelid tape? First off, I don't own any. Second, I watched a Youtube tutorial on how to use it, and it seemed like removing it hurt like a motherf*cker so eep, just no. Lastly, I wanted to test the limits of using only makeup to change my look.

3 concept eyes creamy matte lipstick 11 love hate 3 zoom in 706 sweet impact swatches review packaging

I've always been a pretty fickle person when it comes to well anything and everything, and generally speaking, this extends to my approach to my makeup collection. I love trying new brands and "groundbreaking" new products, but I think I may have found my match in the lipstick area. I'd been wanting to try the Stylenanda 3 Concept Eyes (3CE) brand for ages, and I recently caved and hauled their lipsticks and some eyeshadows. I posted about the eyeshadows not too long ago. And today I'm back again to rave about the lip colors.  Edit: just posted about their clothing and shoes here.

Packaging junkies will be happy to know that the lipsticks come clad in sturdy containers that are shiny (left most & right most tubes) or matte black a la Nars (middle tube). They do the 'click' noise and are great to throw in a handbag.

March Madness Playlist

Friday, March 6, 2015

Here's the playlist for March! This month was all about those soaring anthems that I feel like are my high school alt rock favorites reincarnated. It starts and ends with some shoegazing though.. kinda like a warm up and cool down for your eardrums. I dunno why I did that. Anyways, hope you like it.

Recreating the Runway Graphic Liner Look

Thursday, March 5, 2015

Some unretouched photos of Beyonce leaked a little while back and everyone was freaking out over the fact that she indeed is a human. I liked her makeup from the photo so I took it as inspiration to try a look I've seen on many a runway and ad campaign.

STYLENANDA 3 CONCEPT EYES (3CE) Eyeshadow Swatches and Review

3CE Eyeshadow Review Swatches

STYLENANDA is a Korean boutique that sells on-trend clothing at high street prices. It has a brick and mortar presence in Seoul, and lucky for its international fans like moi, it also has a website with international shipping to some countries. If you check out the website, you'll also notice that it has amazing product shots mostly due to their gorgeous models. The face of their brand is Korean it-girl Park Sora and I think that they were spot on in their choice of muse. Whenever I peruse their substantial beauty section on the site, I see how great it looks on her, and I'm persuaded to open up my wallet. I swear.... Anyways I recently hauled some eyeshadows and lipsticks (I'll post about those later) and thought I'd share some swatches and thoughts (especially since the internet is seriously lacking in 3CE reviews). Edit: link to lipstick review here and link to clothing haul review here.
