October Final Week K-beauty News & Launches

Saturday, October 31, 2015

Happy Halloween y'all!

I wanted to take the day off and gobble up the Kit Kats we have around the house (it's raining so we have way too many for 3pm on Halloween), but apparently this weekly news update is everyone's favorite. Not sure if I should take that as a compliment or a subtle way of saying I should stop writing reviews. Lol, I won't... =0)

There is one thing I wanted to mention before getting into all that's new in the K-beauty world this week... I usually provide a link to the Korean store from which you can buy everything featured, but to buy from a Korean-Korean store (one where everything is written in Korean, sold in Korean won, etc. etc.) means you have to go through the additional hassle and pay the extra costs of using a shipping service like Avecko.com. It was brought to my attention last week that the first store with international shipping to carry the new releases is usually TesterKorea.com. So while I don't link to Tester Korea outright in the weekly, it's very possible that many of these items will show up there within a few days.

Alright, so this month we saw a lot of awesome new releases. Let's see if we end the month on a high note!

October 31 Korean beauty news, Beyond black tea anti-aging, Innisfree Forest for Men, TheSAEM Eco Energy for men, Benton Tea Tree Mist, Skin79 Pearl Luminate, Etude House Honey Cera, Nature Republic Argan 20, Collagen Dream, Laneige Water Bank Ultra Moisture Cream, The Face Shop Le Marche The Therapy Too Cool For School Egg Mellow, Jung Saem Mool makeup and skincare, Pony Effect November 9 2015 launch Pony Makeup Artist, 3 Concept Eyes Hairline Maker, Brow Fixer, Lipsticks, Too Cool For School Holiday, Missha Oatmeal, Missha Signature Triple Lips, L'oreal Lumi Cushion Foundation 2016, Japanese anime contact lenses.

Beyond Korea is the brand that did the really cutesy Alice in Wonderland makeup collection that I included in my holiday gift guide from earlier this week. Their skincare line isn't often talked about, but they do really solid skincare that is not only quite popular in Korea, but also receives great reviews on beauty forums there. Apparently they are cruelty-free as well which is so great! I haven't been keeping up with Beyond for very long but pictured above is what I think is one of their newer lines - the black tea anti-aging line. Prices range from 27000 to 35000 KRW and can be purchased here through the use of a shipping service like Avecko.com

New Eco Energy men's line from TheSAEM [1][2][3]

New Oatmeal body care line at Missha [1][2][3]

We used to be able to get things like this before Dowaja.com folded... :*( :*( But just in case you are currently reading this from Korea, the Prime Reserve Epi-dynamic Activating Cream with AbsoluTea (tm) is now available in limited quantities at Amore Pacific shops across the country. at Neiman Marcus in the U.S.

JungSaemMool's Makeup Line

October 31 Korean beauty news, Beyond black tea anti-aging, Innisfree Forest for Men, TheSAEM Eco Energy for men, Benton Tea Tree Mist, Skin79 Pearl Luminate, Etude House Honey Cera, Nature Republic Argan 20, Collagen Dream, Laneige Water Bank Ultra Moisture Cream, The Face Shop Le Marche The Therapy Too Cool For School Egg Mellow, Jung Saem Mool makeup and skincare, Pony Effect November 9 2015 launch Pony Makeup Artist, 3 Concept Eyes Hairline Maker, Brow Fixer, Lipsticks, Too Cool For School Holiday, Missha Oatmeal, Missha Signature Triple Lips, L'oreal Lumi Cushion Foundation 2016, Japanese anime contact lenses.

Korean makeup artist JungSaemMool is THE makeup artist for the nation. Meaning, she's basically Korea's Pat Mcgrath. She also has her own makeup and skincare line called Jung Saem Mool. It's available for purchase at JSM Beauty by using a shipping service like Avecko.com. Some notable products are these Essential Tinted Pastes which are like cream blushes, highlights, and contours for the face, and I found her skincare interesting as it incorporates a lot of brightening ingredients like pearl, lecithin, and floral extracts.

Pony Makeup Artist begins new brand 'Pony Effect'

Makeup artist Pony got her start on Youtube, but has since worked with world famous stars like CL from the girl group 2NE1. Her new makeup line, called Pony Effect, is launching in 10 days on 11/9. I'm counting down... are you? Check out her pre-launch site here.

New 3 Concept Eyes Products: Hairline Maker, Brow Fixer, and Fall Lipsticks

3 Concept Eyes's new hairline shading kit is available at their offline store. The online release date hasn't been announced yet. This is kind of exciting because before now, the brand Holika Holika had the monopoly on hair line shading tools. There is also an eye and brow fixer that is also only available offline at the moment. But don't worry, the brand's 5 new shades of Fall lipsticks are already available online at Stylenanda for the usual $20 price point.

New 2016 L'oreal launches includes a cushion!

While this isn't strictly Korean beauty, it's super exciting to see a brand come out with a cushion product in 12 (TWELVE!) SHADES. And what's more at an affordable price! (Estee Lauder and Lancome also have wide shade ranges.) The Lumi cushion foundation is due to hit stores in 2016. Thanks to Nouveaucheap for the tip.

Digging into this news byte a bit, the details of the deal are undisclosed but they took an equity stake in Dr. Jart, which by the way stands for Doctor Joins Art. I'm excited to see what happens next for the both of them.

Outside of Asian Beauty, there's a new app that will find makeup shade matches for your favorite colors
The app is called Shade Scout, and it will color match your desired color with your choice of lipstick, blush, or eyeshadow shades.

Just a friendly reminder to not trust everything out there on the internet with regards to skincare: On Pinterest, Youtube, THIS Blog...
The gist of the story is that some girls took the advice of a Youtuber, ended up with some cinnamon and honey induced burns on their faces. In the wake of this, I'd like to point you to a few responsible skincare Youtubers like Mr. Steve Jan, the brand ambassador for SK-II in the U.S., Hot and Flashy, a 50+ makeup and skincare vlogger, and Lily from iamabeautyjunkee, who is a skincare junkie and reviews products from all over the globe, including Asian beauty products.
