Peripera Peri's Ink Drop BB in 2 Review

Monday, April 4, 2016

Serum or water type foundations were en vogue towards the end of last year, wanting to try one for myself I picked up the Peripera Peri's Ink Drop BB. A lot a bit due to the sales they had going on around New Year's... ngl... But also in part due to the fact that the ingredients list appealed to me, plus that packaging...

PRODUCT
Peripera Peri's Ink Drop SPF 30 PA++ 30ml, which comes in 1 Pure Ivory or 2 Luminous Beige.
I'm an NC15 and have shade 2.

The bb cream is available at Club Clio. The claims on the Club Clio website as per usual promise Kpop or Kdrama star skin. More specifically, "flawless skin with 1 drop [of product]", "long-lasting [wear] without a single touch up all day", and "no irritation".

The featured ingredients are Hungarian water (fancy water that may have more minerals etc.) and hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid (hydration) but there are many other skincare faves like niacinamide (anti-aging), adenosine (anti-aging), and polyglutamic acid (hydration). The UV filters are a physical / chemical mix of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and ethylhexyl methoxicinnamate. A word of caution as there are some common acne triggers like stearic acid and silicones present.

PACKAGING The bb cream comes in a small compact bottle presumably shaped like an ink bottle with a twist off cap. Once the cap is removed there is a clear plastic nozzle with a conical tip through which the product is dispensed. If the cap is screwed on tightly, the product doesn't leak at all but it's good to be careful while handling the product so as not to spill.

TO USE Shake well before each use. Spread the product out evenly with either fingers, beauty blender, or cc cushion puff.

PERFORMANCE

Firstly the shade is quite a nice match for my neutral to warm leaning NC15 skin. It's a tad darker so it will probably even suit up to NC20 skin tones. It's a nice, neutral to yellow yet not too yellow color that I do agree gives a pretty luminous look to the skin.

Next, the scent of the product is not overpowering and very generic.

Upon application, it's important not to dispense the liquid too quickly as it's got such a thin, watery consistency. It gives ligh-to-medium coverage and is buildable to boot. I like it as a concealer and appreciate how it doesn't accentuate the pores or fine lines on my dry skin. The finish is dewy and moisturizing and it doesn't sensitize my skin. Now, is my skin flawless at one drop? Not even close, but a few layers definitely does the trick.

Whether the Peri's Ink Drop BB is long-lasting depends a lot on the weather and skin type. On blustery cold days, I find myself having to reapply every 3-4 hours (it dries a bit around the pores so the pores look raised a bit). I could imagine the same issue arising during the summer. Also those with oilier skin types may need to touch up more often.

REPURCHASE? I like this product quite a bit - the only weakness is that it requires touching up during the day every once in awhile. While I'm not disappointed with the Peri's Ink Drop BB, I think I'm Team CC Cushion all the way because of their portability and convenience.

FINAL RATING 3.5/5
