Lip and Hand Care Products I'm Enjoying

Sunday, January 17, 2016

I haven't sat down and written up a proper review on anything in awhile. There are many skincare products I'm enjoying lately but I'm not ready to give my thoughts on them yet, so I thought I'd share some little things I've been enjoying lately.

If you're missing reading proper skincare reviews, come check out what I'm using these days here.  I like to post updates on Instagram as I go through the testing process. :-)

Hand Care

Mamonde Rose Oil Beauty Balm $15.21 on Yesstyle | circa $9.63 on TesterKorea

INGREDIENTS Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Beeswax, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Shea Butter, Dextrin Palmitate, Polyethylene, Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Rosa Canina Flower Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Seed Oil, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance, CI 45410, CI 47005 [ANALYSIS]

The Rose Oil Beauty Balm is supposed to be an all-purpose beauty salve that can be used on your face, your lips, your hands, dry, cracked heels, wherever you need beautifying.
Squee packaging aside, the ingredients list is delightfully full of occlusive ingredients like thicker oils, beeswax, shea butter, and murumuru seed butter which somehow all meld together to express this awesome solid pink wax/oil that smells like crushed rose petals. It's a touch harder than coconut oil in room temperature and the scent is a bit artificial but not so off the mark that I can't handle it.
I've been using it on my cuticles, my knuckles and elbows and my lips mostly. It's perfect for these tasks because the wax will softly melt upon contact with my body heat and work its way into the skin quickly.
When it comes to using it on my face however, there's nothing in the ingredients list that whispers 'come hither' to me. On the occasions I have used it on my face, I enjoy the glow it gives me before going to bed. Other than that I don't see it as being a special facial skincare product.

Nature Republic x EXO Hand and Nature Hand Cream in Peach/Suho $9.67/2x30ml on eBay

This was a total impulse buy. REGRETS what are THOSE.

I picked up the whole set of these K-pop boy band hand creams and they turned out to be really great. They're very light, like creamy gels so they absorb really quickly. They each have a different scent and boy band member featured on them. I'm part lizard during the winter, so I've been working my way through these fairly quickly - of all of the different scents (the textures are roughly the same), the Peach is by far my favorite. It smells like juice.
The other scents are rose, citron, cotton baby, green tea, cherry blossom, shea butter, wild berry (also yum) and avocado. The others can unfortunately be a bit off-key or overpowering to the point where you wouldn't want to use them in a confined space. You could, but you'd be that coworker..

On the lips, this is a super effective overnight lip treatment. I've been a devotee to Aquaphor (100% petrolatum) for years because of how effective it is in smoothing down dry flakes overnight. Plus, one jar of Aquaphor can last you a decade. The Mamonde balm feels so much nicer though because of all of the emollient oils and butters and it's done as well as the petrolatum so far.

This lip balm featuring --->

... is a lot like the Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm in 'Cherry Me'. The sheer wash of strawberry red is a little lighter than 'Cherry Me' and it takes a two passes to get enough of the product to go on the lips, but the Nature Republic balm doesn't make my lips peel and I can't say the same of the Maybelline.

I have strong feelings for these little metal tins of soft jelly lip balm. The product is really cool, I don't think I've ever used a lip balm like these Too Cool For School ones before, they feel like petrolatum (Aquaphor/Vaseline) but with zero stickiness whatsoever. Actually, much more like a gloss than a lip balm. Not only are the colors really subtle and pretty, but they last a lot longer than I expected (mostly because they stain a bit). They're pretty moisturizing, and they smell like fruit snacks. :D :D :D  Do you need the set? Not really. I only have the three colors because I won them in a giveaway. The colors look sooo different in the tub, but on the lips the sheerness makes them really not too different from one another. The metal packaging twists closed completely so they're easy to throw in a bag to keep with you but they will melt and run and make you D: if you're not careful to keep them away from the heat.

My natural lip color is very pale, almost the color of my skin, for reference.

Nature Republic Strawberry/Chanyeol -is a sheer red, tough to apply evenly, but does condition lips while giving vibrant color.

Too Cool For School Pinky Pie - a sheer, even wash of medium pink This my faaave and the only one I hope to repurchase.

Too Cool For School Beet Jam - a more reddish pink.

Too Cool For School Spilled Wine - This was the surprise to me, I thought Spilled Wine would be significantly darker than Pinky Pie... but there isn't too much of a difference. It's just a bit darker, but still more pink than berry or purple.
