에뛰드하우스의 새로운 틴트 컬러팝 반짝 틴트! 써니팝 |
because before 2014, I owned one eyeliner, one blush, and one lipstick. That's it. Finito. But times have changed and lately I've found that there's nothing quite as satisfying as watching your imperfections get buffed away with the soft bristles of a fluffy brush, caressing your face like the dulcet tones of a young Justin Bieber... And truth be told, my makeup collection has started to grow at a rapid pace, with my skills rushing to keep up.
The Tools
Much color. Me like. Yass. |
The tools for today's look come from my arsenal of orange.
From L-R
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Orange Impertinent - a sheer pinky orange that has a very moisturizing formula and smooth application. If a lipstick could be al dente, this would be it. It's definitely not a long-lasting lipstick however. One application will go about 3-4 hours barring any meals or drinking. Also, packaging junkies go nuts for the YSL lipsticks. Swatched below in natural light. $36.00 at Sephora
NYX Butter Lip Gloss in Peach Cobbler - shiny pinky orange gloss that lasts a few hours. Just a regular old gloss that's not too sticky. $4.99 at UltaYSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Orange Impertinent - a sheer pinky orange that has a very moisturizing formula and smooth application. Wet N Wild Purty Persimmon - a very dry matte lipstick in a red-orange tone. It's really bright and in your face. The formula is very long-lasting which means it can be a bit drying. It's pretty comfortable to wear though, and I forget I have it on almost immediately. The packaging leaves something to be desired. The lipstick does not twist down all the way, making it easy to nick when putting the cap back on. Also, this makes it a little dodgy for stashing in your bag as the cap can come off easily. $2.29 at Drugstore.com
Etude House Color Pop in Sunny Pop - a shiny bright true orange lip tint that fades to a true orange stain. This wears for about 4 hours and leaves behind a nice stain. One con of this product is that it's hard to reapply a second coat and get the same color as before. It builds a little too much. Swatched below in natural light. 5.89 @ Amazon
Here's how they look on. I paired the lips with a sheer wash of champagne shimmer on the eyes. I used Smashbox Eyelights in Beam (discontinued), but you can use whatever ivory shimmer you own. Apply the shadow on the lid up to the brow bone, and bring it down on the bottom waterline. Line the upper waterline with a black eyeliner and apply mascara. The skin I just applied the same champagne eyeshadow on the tops of the cheekbones. The lips are the real piece de resistance. The first look is subtle and features the YSL Orange Impertinent. The second is a more of a true orange with a glossy finish. I swiped the Etude House Sunny Pop over the YSL in this instance. I attain a similar look swiping the NYX Peach Cobbler over YSL when I want it to look a bit more pink. The last look is my favorite look, which throws it back to J.Crew's hay day a few years back, when everyone and their mothers were obsessed with the bright, almost neon orangey red on their catalogue models. This look features the Wet N Wild Purty Persimmon.
