We've finally got some nice weather going again here in Chicago so I thought it'd be fun to do a quick post on spring / summer fashion along with a little tag. My first one ever!
Shopaholic Tag
No one's tagged me. I tagged myself. Looks like I'm that guy for today.
1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
Well, the official definition of a shopaholic is 'a compulsive shopper' so no? My style is more researching each and every product for weeks, narrowing down to the best fit, and picking it up if the need arises or it goes on sale. Chalk it up to the fact that I'm a Capricorn born in the year of the Rat and an INFJ. JK. Don't box me in.
2. How would you classify your style?
I didn't really have a word for it until last year... it's a bit of norm-core mixed in with remnants of my boho style from college/early working years. Or maybe more accurate would be "the safe side of trendy".
3. What store can you not leave without buying at least one thing?
I love Madewell and Stylenanda and I give them my money all the damn time. Those stores are truly not safe for wallet.
4. Where do you find the best deals?
I'd say ASOS is where I go to shop sale stuff along with ebay and Bib and Tuck for used / vintage goods. I'll always peruse the Shopbop sales since you can snag stuff for 70% off.
5. What designer are you willing to splurge for?
I'm not that into designer goods. Too poor :*( But this year I know that I want to save up for maybe two things... a coat from either the Coach Fall/Winter collection or Sandy Liang, and a Kenzo backpack.
6. Do you have a go-to shopping outfit?
Anything pullover and if the weather allows, non-bulky shorts which I like because it makes trying on dresses way faster and easier. I just don't remove the shorts.
7. What is your guilty pleasure? (Aside from makeup)
Shoes. OMG Shoes. Let's get some shoes. (Please let me not be the only one to get that reference)
8. What is one staple clothing piece you cannot live without?
Yoga pants.
9. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
Onesies and rompers... you'll see why below.
10. What trend did you love that passed way too quickly?
Skinny jeans. I'm going to keep wearing them.
11. Who is your fashion icon?
Alexa Chung and the Man Repeller. They're always wearing stuff I wish I was brave enough to wear.
Summer Duds
Looking through the warm weather clothes I have in my closet, it looks like I'll be dressing like a toddler all summer. When did I rack up so many onesies and rompers? And when I'm not wearing a romper, I still match my separates to look like a romper. Is triple denim overkill? Someone let me know because that's what I've been doing. I've also been reaching for my brown vintage leather cross-body that strangely looks like it's embossed with deer antlers a lot. So vital for carrying my necessities while not having to get my back or hands sweaty. In the hair department, silk scarves have been helping me extend my no-(sham)poo lifestyle well into the summer.
