Hi everyone- today is supposed to be a new installment of TG2KB. I was going to cover a roundup of different potential routines consisting of cult favorite products, dependent on your skin type, and skin concerns. I've seen a few of these posts around and I totally appreciate the effort undertaken by the bloggers to draw these routines up, because it is SUCH a huge endeavor, involving ingredients expertise and a huge awareness of the products in the market. I've actually been working on it for 2 days, and I'm still nowhere near done, so sorry about that. I'm hoping to get TG2KB Part 7: Wishlists up by the end of the weekend. Also, just to let you know, after part 7, TG2KB will be going on hiatus until the end of September, for logistical reasons. The final few installments deal with how to navigate the Korean web, shopping services, and some useful Korean smartphone applications, but alas, I am waiting for the hauls to arrive, and my phone is pretty much broken, and everyone knows you don't buy an iPhone just before a new generation launches... so yes, TG2KB will be back late September!

So instead, today I'll be reviewing the Sulwhasoo Evenfair Perfecting Cushion. I have it in shade 23, for my NC20 light, warm-toned skin. I'll also be comparing it to the Amore Pacific CC Cushion I reviewed in late April. These are both pretty expensive cushions, so I thought it would useful to compare them against one another, in case you have been interested in picking one up. So sit back, grab some popcorn for the battle of the bougey cushions.

I'm going to start off by saying I love both of these cushions, they make me feel more than fancy when I put one on... they both leave me feeling prance-y!

SULWHASOO EVENFAIR PERFECTING CUSHION REVIEW

Sulwhasoo Evenfair Perfecting Cushion in an Amore Pacific case

Story time - I happily swapped my Amore Pacific cushion refill with /u/happinesscomesfrom for her Sulwhasoo Evenfair Perfecting Cushion refill, which is why the refill is housed in an Amore Pacific case. In case you were not aware, many of the brands under the Amore Pacific umbrella can be housed in the same cushion case. There are some exceptions, like Etude House and Innisfree, but this tends to be true overall. Unfortunately this means I will not have anything to say about the packaging of the cushion, other than it is extremely attractive, colored in bone, and accented with gold. You can see it for yourself here.

WHAT IT IS:
A cushion compact filled with a foundation, not the typical CC cream. Each compact comes with a sponge applicator, and a full-size refill.

BENEFITS/CLAIMS:
1. Apricot Kernel Oil works to promote collagen formation in the skin - improving skin elasticity and resilience for powerful anti-wrinkle benefits.
2. Jaumdan™ Water and antioxidants deliver optimal hydration and lifting effects.
3. The unique Flexible Film-Fixing Polymer offers a thin protective barrier for a flawless finish for 12 hours.
4. SPF 50+ PA+++ protects the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays that cause photo-aging.

INGREDIENTS:
The UV filters in this product are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.
There is arbutin in the formula which can provide lightening and brightening effects to the skin.
This formula is also a bit silicone-heavy and contains stearic acid, in case that is one of your skin triggers.
The main moisturizers in this formula are glycerin and lecithin.
There are also many botanical extracts and oils, many of which are antioxidants as well.
There is a moderate amount of natural fragrance in this product.
The full ingredients list is available here.

SHADE RANGE:
No. 21 fits about an N10-N15.
No. 23 fits about an N15-N20.
No. 25 fits about an N25-N30.

SWATCHES

These swatches are freshly applied and slightly blended into the skin. You can see they look like skin!

SHADE:
Right off the bat, you can see that the Sulwhasoo is neutral, leaning warm with a yellowish tinge. It is ever so slightly lighter and brighter than the Amore Pacific, which leans more beige.

FINISH:
The finishes of the products are both somewhere between dewy and matte. They are both a bit dewier than matte, but I would describe them as a semi-matte finish.

PERFORMANCE

Post-sheet mask prep... yes I always look this satisfied and disheveled after a sheet mask. Also, I think I may have to admit that my skincare efforts have lightened me to an NC15 from an NC20.

After the Sulwhasoo Evenfair Perfecting Cushion applied. There is a touch of highlighter on my cheek

Up close and personal

COVERAGE:
This product has awesome coverage, even after applying just one light layer. I'd call it a medium to high coverage product. The coverage is so high that it gives decent coverage to my dark circles AND most of my moles, freckles, and sunspots in one go. It also evens out your pores and skin texture, and does not collect in your fine lines and wrinkles.

SCENT:
To me, this product just smells like plants. Just plants. I can't place my finger on the scent. It's slightly herbal, slightly fruity. The scent is a bit strong, but not as strong as the Amore Pacific.

WEAR TIME:
This cushion wears an average length of time, around 6 hours. It doesn't do that bunching thing where it collects and looks powdery around your pores and sebaceous filaments that other products do as they dry out which means you won't end up looking like a pop art comic book heroine, fortunately or unfortunately. It fades from the T-zone first, but is nothing a fresh layer won't fix. Each layer goes on atom-thin anyway. I did not personally find this drying (on my dry skin type), but some people have said it can be.

SULWHASOO vs. AMORE PACIFIC... FIGHT!

Here is a little reminder of what the Amore Pacific cushion looks like on, taken from my last cushion product review.

Only okay at covering up dark circles.

See below for my comparison...

I'm concluding that they're both excellent products and I would buy each one again and again.

The major reasons why one would choose one over the other would probably be the shade match, the scent you prefer, the coverage you need, and the packaging you prefer to own.

So that's it for today! I'm totally enjoying the Sulwhasoo for now, but I've already found an amazing BUDGET cushion for next time. We're talking less than $20.

Thanks for reading! Have you tried these cushions? What did you think?

Amore Pacific cushion here.

P.S. just a reminder that even if a base product says it is SPF 50+, you still need a sunscreen underneath, unless you want to apply half a teaspoon of foundation/bb cream... which would not look pretty.
