I picked up the TonyMoly BCDation Cushion+ foundation after hearing rumors that it was one of the bestselling cushion foundations in 2015.

Modeled below by Korean pop star Hyuna, it earned the title of the #selfiefit cushion, as it is supposed to give the coverage of a BB cream, the flawless finish and skin-conditioning effects of a CC cream, and the long-lasting coverage of a foundation. It's also priced on the low end of the spectrum at about $15 (being the upper bound) per cushion (15g. of product, with no refill).
There are three color options available:
01 Vanilla Beige, which corresponds to around an NC5-10
02 Skin Beige, which will fit an NC10-NC15
03 Warm Beige, which is probably most appropriate for an NC15-NC20
So right off the bat, this cushion only caters to lighter skin tones, so my apologies to anyone darker than an NC20, as this review won't be applicable to you.
CLAIMS
Tonymoly calls it a multitasking formula that delivers broad-spectrum SPF protection, deep hydration, and complete coverage with a gel-coating-like coverage technology called the double-locking cover system. On the packaging it also claims that the cushion has brightening and wrinkle-care properties.

It comes in a sleek, black cushion compact with a push-button locking and unlocking mechanism. The design is very simple with just charcoal gray and white lettering. The shade, recycling, and expiration for the product are printed on the bottom of the compact.
It comes with the standard mirror, application puff, and puff tray, which also serves as an airlock to keep the foundation fresh on the inside.
The Tonymoly puff seems to be made from the same blue, antibacterial rubycell material as the puffs that come with AmorePacific (the originator of cushion compacts) cushions. The Tonymoly cushion is actually less pliable, and seems to soak up less product, which does make a difference when it comes to applying the product.
Open up the tray, and break the seal to reveal the BCDation foundation-soaked sponge, which is full to the max. The sponge is one of the more fully soaked ones I've used - it seems like there is way more product than the Etude House Precial Mineral Any Cushion.

The ingredients list is pretty lengthy as to suggest that this product is not for the faint of heart, or for those with reactive skin. Let's break it down really quickly.
The main UV filters are titanium dioxide and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, which give UVA2 and UVB protection. Next up are some silicones which are emollients and solvents which tend to thin a formula out. They are also often included to give formula a more slippy finish. After the pigment, then come a few good-for-you skincare ingredients like niacinamide, an antioxidant that can help fight off damage caused by free radicals, disrupt melanin overproduction, and fight off wrinkles, hydrolyzed collagen, rapeseedate ferment, glacier water, argan oil, olive oil, and green tea oil. They all perform different but positive functions, you may refer to the CosDNA analysis for more details, but this cocktail of ingredients serve to moisturize, fight microbials, hydrate, and fight free radicals and wrinkles. There are a fair amount of viscosity controlling ingredients, before landing on more skincare ingredients like anti-aging Adenosine, 3 forms of hydrating hyaluronic acid, moisturizing caprylic/capric triglyceride, antioxidant lecithin, Natural Moisturizing Factor-boosting ceramide, and hydrating polyglutamic acid.
The ingredients list is not all good-for-you and contains pigments, fragrance, alcohol, talc, and a few others that may be of concern. There are also a fair amount of potential acne triggers like stearic acid, silicones, ethylhexyl palmitate, and isopropyl myristate. For these reasons, I believe this cushion to be best for those without highly reactive or sensitive skin, and highly recommend taking a look at the CosDNA analysis linked above.
The COLOR of the cushion is a peachy, slightly warm tone. Pictured in today's review is the 2nd shade, Skin Beige which is just lighter than a MAC NC15. TBH, it is quite light for me, but because the product is higher coverage, it does cover my skin completely, and as such there's less of a skin tone matching issue.
The COVERAGE, which we touched on, is medium to high, and is very build-able. In terms of APPLICATION, because the applicator puff doesn't soak in very much foundation at a time, it's possible to lay down the thinnest of layers on the skin. The only drawback is that the more solid, bouncy applicator puff tends to leave streak marks on the skin at first. It takes a little bit of work to make the application look perfect. It is possible to use a more malleable cushion puff to work around this hiccup though.
The FINISH of the product is a very bright and luminescent, yet matte. I'm not certain how exactly they got a non-dewy product to give such a glow to the skin but I liken this to the semi-matte finish of the Sulwhasoo Evenfair Perfecting Cushion (at about half of the cost). It also seems to smooth over pores and wrinkles as though it is applied over primer. No awkward strands of hair sticking to your foundation with this one!
The SCENT is there at about a medium-strength and it smells like a non-descript perfume. I think the product is pretty outstanding in terms of WEAR TIME, as it will last me about 6 hours (I have dry skin), after which it will have faded slightly around my T-zone and the sides of my nose. I usually have to re-apply a teensy amount, the equivalent of one pat on each of those areas before my FoTD looks fresh and new again. I also really enjoy the way it fades, some cushion foundations will lose all of their moisture throughout the day and sort of... pucker around the pores as this happens, the Tonymoly doesn't lose any moisture (weird for it being a matte product) and the fading looks more natural and does not emphasize the pores.
I believe this product to be BEST FOR those looking for a great matte, long-wearing product but who do not have reactive skin. (I didn't break out, but there were a few ingredients that made my heart skip a beat in a bad way). This is great for people looking to liven up dull dry or dull oily skin as it is moisturizing but not overpoweringly so. If I were to compare it to its peers on the low-end cushion compact market, it really blows Etude House and The Face Shop out of the water. The coverage and application are on par with higher end products. I wish the shade range were more inclusive so everyone could enjoy this one!
