Did you end up getting any Asian beauty products? What was your favorite gift?
I didn't forget about the last 'makeup week' post. Today I have a short review and swatches of the handful of Aritaum Mono Eyes eyeshadows in my collection.
Aritaum Mono Eyes are really excellent eyeshadows for the price. They're about $4 with the exchange rate right now at sites like Tester Korea and such. I'd say they're above drugstore quality because even the matte shadows are pigmented and not hard to blend. I wouldn't quite call them buttery, but they're awesome for the price. My favorite Korean eyeshadows come from the brand 3 Concept Eyes but those shadows are about 1.5x more expensive (3x the price / 2x the amount of product).
So let's get to the pretty...
83 Playful, a dusty pink matte with a hint of orange to it
91 Gardenia, a dusty rose pink matte
92 Cozy Touch, an orange matte
105 Vintage Look, a bright pinkish red matte
111 Wannabe Cool, a denim blue shimmer with blue micro-sparkle in it
All of the mattes are actually kind of more semi-matte, there's a bit of dimensionality in the shades and they're not flat by any means... They also have excellent lasting power and none of them require primer to get to their full intensity.
In the spirit of Christmas, I have eye swatches for y'all tonite!
83 Playful is the least pigmented of the colors but I'm still more than happy with it for $4.
91 Gardenia applies smooth and fully pigmented from first swipe, but this shade bunches up and has more fallout than the others. Kind of weird for a matte, but still I love this shade and pull it out often. I thought that there might be a comparable shade in the rose gold Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, but no... There's no shade like this in that palette. :heh heh heh, makes meh happy:
92 Cozy Touch and 105 Vintage Look are both really, really amazing. I found that in the Aritaum matte range, the darker they are, the better they swatch. These swatch at full pigment from first swipe. They're also soft, blend easily, and almost water resistant - they'll stain a bit.
If you have an Aritaum store nearby, the range has interesting and vibrant shades that would make for some fun New Year's Eve looks. If you don't, these are available at...
Tester Korea for 4750 KRW ($4.07 today) each.
ibuybeauti has them for $5.35 right now as well.
These are also great products to buy using a shipping service (like Avecko.com and *new* Koreanbuddy.com) because they're so small and lightweight. If you find them on sale for Buy One Get One Free (a 1+1 sale in K-beauty speak) at Aritaum Korea, I'd definitely pull the trigger!
