Goodal Calming Wash-Off Pack with Rose Review

Thursday, May 12, 2016

When my skin is a flaky mess, as it has been over the past week or so (tretinoin and potentially a little overexfoliation), I tend to avoid using wash-off packs - you couldn't get me to go near one with a 10 foot pole~ There is however only one mask I'd make an exception for in this particular circumstance, and that is the Goodal Calming Wash-Off Pack with rose.

This mask is one of the most gentle, hydrating, and skin-balancing wash-off packs I've ever had the pleasure of using and a great one to have in stock if you're a fellow dry skinned lady (or gent). So you've probably already guessed, today is a very favorable review of this particular face mask.

The pack comes from one of my favorite brands Goodal, which is known for using red yeast ferment in their products. Red yeast ferment and other fermented ingredients are known to have a small particle size which makes them able to penetrate into the skin and deliver their benefits to the deeper layers of the skin.

This particular mask pack is part of a collection of wash-off and sleeping packs called the Nature's Solution packs. According to Club Clio USA, the Calming Wash-Off Pack with rose is a soothing moisture pack that contains 3,000 mg of rose water and real rose to give you some aromatherapy along with hydrated skin. It also boasts ferments, and various berry extracts that are laden with antioxidants that help to protect the skin from environmental aggressors, scavenge, and fight free radicals. There's real rose petals floating in there as well.

INGREDIENTS Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, PEG-32, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Fermented Yeast Water, Betaine, Rosa Damascena, Tangerine Fruit Extract, Strawberry Extract, Bearberry Extract, Blackberry Extract, Blueberry Extract, Acai Berry Extract, Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract, PEG/PPG-18/4Copolymer, Ethylhexandiol, Acrylate C10-30 Alky Acrylate Crosspolymer, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Glyceryl Caprylate, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Dyes, Fragrance [COSDNA]

The ingredients are straight from the body label. It is front-loaded with humectants to deliver a boost of hydration to the skin and rose fermented with yeast (for months as is customary with Goodal products), and various antioxidants in the form of fruit extracts. There is fragrance and dyes in the product, to note for those who are sensitive to either.

The pack comes in a container shaped like a tub with a twist-off cap, an inner lid with a pull-off tab, and a spatula. Very simple packaging with everything that is necessary to use the pack. When the pack is new, it comes fully wrapped in plastic. You'll be able to smell the rose through the inner lid, it's that strong. There are 100ml in every pack.

The product is a cooling and refreshing jelly-like texture with dried bits of rose interspersed throughout the product. It really looks like reddish-brown rose marmalade or something, and smells like synthetic candied rose, or rather, rose with a bit of a sweetness to it. It might not suit everyone's tastes but I like the scent.

It's a very typical wash-off mask in the sense that it goes on immediately after cleansing the face. You wait for 10-15 minutes and wash it right off. Then ooh and ahh at the results, of course.

I like to use it in place of a morning cleanse as I feel that when I remove the mask I'm also removing with it all of the dust and dirt and excess product that may have piled up on the skin overnight.

After globbing it on, really getting a nice even layer onto the skin, the mask will start to do its work over the 10-15 minutes as you relax and de-stress. You'll notice it beginning to dry out a little bit and turn into a bit of a stickier consistency.

In terms of results, whenever I use this mask, my skin looks radiant and feels refreshed, and noticeably more hydrated. It's so easy to wash off that my skin never feels abraded. Immediately following the pack, I love to load up on an essence, and the rest of my skincare routine; this makes me feel all set to have a 'good skin day' (or night). This is a mask I would absolutely repurchase, especially in the Fall/Winter timeframe.
